for 40+ years they have all come through kit or completed gun with PLAIN JANE WOOD, but the stocks always look KILLER I rely like them. I have one that I bought 45 yrs ago from them when they were in HADDAM, CONN, when the guy worked out of his garage, before they moved to I believe to GEORGIA? used ones on gun sites are selling for over $600.00, and they don't hang around for these prices. I don't believe that they are made anymore? I may be wrong.
No not made anymore that I know of they are a decent kit the locks are really nice and nicely polished compared to today's kits imo the stock fit in the tang area not the best but I spent quite a bit of time to get it as best as I could I'm going to glass bed just a small area when my Accra glass gets here I'll send a update when finished with that.

Good shooter, but a kicker, I had an old slip on pad I still get the whammy, but not as bad as a naked stock. I put the kit together back in the 80's. I think one of the last CVA sold.

I'm sure it will kick like a mule !! Lol

Depends on the drop of the stock.
Some kick at the back at your shoulder and some slap your cheek when shot.they make a cushion over the comb to help with that recoil
I'll find out pretty soon but I'm not too worried about it I actually have one of those cheeks pads on my .20 gauge side by side pretty nice !

I think I used Plum Brown on barrels. It was back in the 80’s. I bought a 16 lines per inch Dembart checkering kit and went for it with wrap-a-round pattern

Most I have seen were plain stock, never have figured out why the kit I got already had checkered stock. I understand that the finished models had a standard and a deluxe model, but thought all kits were standard. I had purchased a retailer lot and most were CVA's that were being phased out. This old shot gun is what I have got left and waited 20 years before I assembled it. Missed out on a lot of enjoyment of shooting the shotgun. Good shooter, kicks like a mule, just the way I like it.

Here's a pic of the hammers after I had to heat and bend them I also applied boiled linseed oil to them while hot
