The drawback to the Nova is the stock and receiver is one piece. Fitting the gun to the shooter is about impossible. Yeah, 99% of the Billy Bobs out there just shoot off the rack guns. I like to see these guys in a clays competition. Easy money. If the gun does not fit the shooter, its junk. i don't care if its a NEF Pardner or a Krieghoff K-80, it if does not shoot where the shooter looks, its a P.O.S. That makes the Benelli Nova a paper weight in my opinion.
The Rem 870, even the Mossberg 500/835 would be my choice ina pump gun. There is a reason the 870 has not changed its design in over 60 years. It works. The 1100 has won more clay target championships than any other shotgun. Again, it works. You can fit them, they have nice balance, and they last forever.
