got out to the range the other day for my first 15 shots with a muzzle loader, and noticed with T7 cleaning in between every shot produced the best results. To knock off the crud ring and not get my range rod stuck I learned that bumping up against it with a wet patch with short strokes knocked it away quickly and easily.

I did also notice my brass range rod is rubbing up against the barrel crown and is getting scratched up on the rifling and it even leaves some fine shavings behind.

Should I be using a muzzle protector on my range rod? Or is the soft brass no problem for my rifling?

If I do need a muzzle protector where can I source one that fits my range rod?
