What Grain Bullet Do You Prefer For Whitetails?

So far this season I've killed a buck with a Precision Rifle 195 grn Dead Center in 45 cal
I'm shooting a 250 grain Bonded Shockwave on my hunt on the 18th from the 50 cal.

I prefer a quality 250 gr bullet for about every animal with the exception of elk. which i want at least a 300 gr bullet,due to the size and strength of the animal..

for whitetails i plan on setting my nephew up with 100gr APP and depending on what his new rifle shoots, either a 223gr or 270gr platinum powerbelt.
