I’ve been looking to try some more bore riding bullets in my .50 CVA Accura. These are pretty darn affordable and the powder coat almost acts like a lubricated jacket that prevents barrel build up. They are sized to .501 which is what my bore slugs out to.

Any reason not to try these in my muzzle loader? Would I need a wad of some type? Or just seat them right on top of the powder?

Im guessing if they are hard cast and really hard the base wont expand and engage the rifling, plus if using on game you want expansion which hard cast dont do much of. Somebody with more knowledge then me on bore riders will be along shortly:)

I cast 501 in pure if interested in trying some ,and always use a dura felt wad to protect base . PM me if interested in trying some/Ed

This bullet is 18 bhn this lead was HARD. this bullet was also paper patched. If you look at the base you can see where it indeed was grooved by the rifling.
Guys talk about bullets that are too hard bump up to groove diameter. I've never seen it.

I found that once bullets get harder than about 10 bhn they tend to get finicky about wanting to be shot from a very clean barrel. Posting this bullet again. It was paper patched and sized. If really cleaned well they did pretty well 18 BHN. This bullet was dug out of a dirt mound.
