Reading Doc's book inspired me to buy a Green Mountain cartridge barrel in 40 caliber 1:16 twist and make a barrel for my Renegade but I'm only one person.

Well I think the 45 has the history of the Whitworth and the original 45-70. While the 54 has some popularity not everyone want or needs to shoot a 750gn bullet. I know Doc also had a " little " 450gn and 535gn bullet. Personally with White bullets ranging from 360 to 520 in the 45 caliber I don't think I would need any more power at least not on this continent.

I have been slowly working my way up in bullet weights. Mid 300s being my favorites. But 400-460 are not far off. I like that i can make a lot more of lighter weight bullets since lead isnt always super easy for me to get

A NOTE ABOUT DOC
- Doc along with several of his old employees from GRRW are building muzzleloaders under the banner of "GRRW Collectors Association" since 2017. These four guys have built over 70 rifles and pistols, that's pretty good for a group that are in their 80's. Their skill set are as good as ever if not polished from the old days. Doc just retired a few days ago from the hospital. job.

This rifle I asked Doc if he would build it, thinking maybe it would get the boys back to building this style of rifle like you folks are shooting. The 1-14 twist barrel was just ordered, Doc has most of the other parts needed. With the back orders he figured this rifle would be 6 months out at a minium.

Gentlemen, what's the name of Doc's book, he has written articles for years about muzzleloaders but says nothing about his other ventures.

The book is actually on his website and available for all to read, I just happen to have one of the few hard copies that were printed.

Does anyone make a 367/300 Super Slug (BC= .33). This is an experimental caliber. It will be very useful as it betters the ballistics of the much loved 38-55 of yesteryear.
The bore mike's .368 land-land,
With a groove depth of .375.
Twist is 1-14.
Bullet is cast weighing 300 gr. at .368 diameter, then is sized to .367.

Would be interested cast, lubed, sized bullets ready to be shot.

Thank you.
.
Bull shop bullets make those... he calls them .36 caliber. Has an adjustable weight bullet for the Ballard rifle.
