SAVAGE HEX BREECHPLUG AVAILABLE FROM CABELAS

Some of you guys are probably aware of this: The 3/8" hex breechplug
for the savage ML is at Cabelas for around $25. Dealers can get it from savage for about $20. savage retail is 29.95. Not stainless.

When using this new 3/8" hex head breechplug from Cabelas, do you still have to remove the bolt lock screw to remove the breechplug?

I saw RW has one listed on his web site that says the bolt lock screw does not have to be removed. Are they the same BP?

He is just referring to the idea of being able to get a 1/4" drive
3/8" socket.. to the plug without removing the guns bolt. I would use a swivel socket myself with an extension. It is most likely the same exact plug..that came from savage..or their supplier. Nothing wrong with a feller making a few bucks on something.
