Here’s a little winter project that I finally finished up. No.3 action restocked with no1 buttstock. The stock was about 95% inlet. I did the fitting and finishing. Before and after.

That is some gorgeous wood and your finishing skills are well suited to it. Very nice work!

That's one project I have looking at me. I have a #3 , former 375 Win rebarrled to 444 Marlin 1/3 Oct and the rest round. A hard kicker and that Calvary carbine stock with the sharp angles are , is hard on my cheekbone. Been looking for a factory take-off #1 and the semi-inlets are very expensive so I keep putting it off. You did a grand job on yours !!! Really need to raise the comb a bit for the low power scope / eye alignment and cheek weld. Trader

The prefits take a fair bit of time to fit and finish out but I like doing it. If you ever call a gun stocker best be sitting down when you get to price!😂

Triple 4 Marlin is a favorite cartridge of mine. Your project sounds awesome. Here’s another no3 custom that I had built for me a few years ago. 50-70 gov’t!

Dang Harley, I'm impressed! That is one fine looking boomstick! 45/70? did you do the checkering too?

The first group of photos is a #3 45-70 with a #1 buttstock, no checkering. The other photo is of a # 3 that I used a factory #1 stock set on. The foreend needed to be fit to the octagon barrel but that one is factory checkered.

Nice wood!

Ever have that trigger guard smash into your third finger?

My little 22 hornet has been a 40-90 Express and is now a 1.8" .500 WSM that can also use rimmed cases like the 50 AK shortened.

They are kind of a Mighty Mouse of rifles.
