I believe some states expressly prohibit smokeless powders for muzzleloader licenses. New Mexico's regulations state: "Only black powder, Pyrodex, or an equivalent substitute may be used." Of course, I would like to consider N120 as an equivalent substitute. Have any of you ever gotten an opinion from a New Mexico authority?

Any help will be appreciated.

You could drop typical10 a PM and see what he says. It said in his post that he is going to be using his Savage in N.M. next January to hunt free ranging oryx. I'm sure he has checked into the regulations involving the legality of it.

You might want to read this past post if you haven't seen it...
