GRRW GUNSMITH GOES UNDER 01/05/2018
Many of you have dealt with Mr. Lloyd Helmes over the years, he supplied muzzleloading parts to various firms. Not only as a supplier, machinest, barrel maker and gunsmith as well as an inventor of various jigs and tools used today in the trade. He was involved with Green River Rifle Works, Oregon Trail Muzzleloaders and several other traditonal muzzleloading firms with his skills.
Lloyd was a walking history book of the history of firearms, a very interesting man we found out when he attended the 2017 GRRW Rendezvous in Roosevelt Utah this past September. His daughter was pleased that her father was able to attend and enjoy the company of his fellow smiths from GRRW. She figured that was his last time to see Doc and the rest that had attended the event.
