I rebuilt a USAK 50 that I had to lap fairly aggressively to make it shootable. The result is a barrel with clean, sharp lands, and smooth (but pitted) grooves. I don't know what the original bore spec was for the American Knight, and I have no idea how much I opened up the bore as a result of the lapping process.
It shoots OK so far with a light 50 gr/3Fg and Knight 250gr sabot/bullet test load, and I'm ready start working up the hunting load for this Fall.
I haven't measured the new bore diameter, and since its a Knight factory 50 sabot/bullet load thats shooting pretty good already, my question is "does knowing the actual measurement of the bore matter"?
