thanks for all the advice, i'll give it another try when up bow hunting. i also think part of the problem might have been the miss fire i had. forgot to swab the barrel and snapped off two more primers before putting the .209 breech plug in and shooting that load out.the extra shots with the .25's must have got the plug real dirty and just compounded the problem. thanks again---tom

Still think you should get some Speer 300 grain Gold Dots and give then a shot - but you would need to use closer to 100 grains... they like speed.

!00 grains ?? for accuracy or does the bullet need the extra speed to expand ??

my deer hunt will be over tomorrow and the elk hunt is a month away , so i will have some time to kill .
