my sabot bullet combo will skip and not rotate down the bore

when loading the bullet it seems to skip and chatter down the barrel

These two pieces of info from the OP are what lead me to believe he had one of the washboard barrels such as I had. Given that he has now fired a fairly amazing group, I can't believe his specimen is anywhere near as bad as was mine.

I don't think the 1:20 twist was a mistake in itself, I just think TC didn't exercise much quality control in that run of barrels (the stainless ones). White rifles are definite proof that a 1:20 twist barrel in .45 caliber can be amazingly accurate - providing the barrel is made well. The Whites will shoot both the heavy conicals and sabot'd rounds quite well. The difference is barrel quality.

To the OP - if you run a tight fitting patch down the bore slowly (when the bore is clean) does it skip or seem to encounter tight then loose situations as it goes down the bore?
