As I figured i would, i ended up removing the 1-1/4” High adjustable Windage Front sight from my new Rice 1:24 Twist .50 Cal Barrel, I wasn’t happy with how much MOA (Staff) i was giving up to Get my 100 Yard ZERO. After some math I decided to try an .850” It turned out to be a TAYLOR Fit, I couldn’t be happier I kinda hated to lose the Adjustable Front, But fact is i didn’t need it.
I took the Rifle out this morning with my Rangefinder to SET my 100 Yard ZERO. The Bullet i chose was the 610 Grain Grease Groove, Bull SNOT Lubed The Target is DEAD ON 100 Yards from my Muzzle, Ranged with my Leica 1600 Rangefinder.
New Shorter .850 Front Sight, Non adjustable Windage, With Bubble Level
Again, Bullets i chose were My 610 Grain BACO Grease Groove Bullet/Mold
My very first Shot, Cold Clean Bore was Low, just at the edge of the White, bottom of Target. I swabbed out, Made an Elevation adjustment but NO windage, That shot landed PERFECT Elevation, And left on the Edge of the Bull
I covered the 2nd Shot at the left edge of the Bull with a White Target Paster, Made a Windage adjustment and Then started a 3 Shot Group. This Group just BARELY misses 1” inch, I am very happy with the Results, a 610 Grain Bullet nearing 1,400 Fps is a SERIOUS Rifle, an attention Grabber!
I went ahead and Ran my Chrono, 1,371 Fps
Here is my 100 Yard ZERO Setting on my Staff, It Don’t get any better than this
