I got a nice weather day today so I took the old whitetail out and tried a few paper patched bullets. I tried the proven Lee 500 S&W 440 grn made famous by Idahoron. I sized the fresh bullets to.499 then 2 wraps of the 9lb onion skin paper. One final trip through my.504 sizer. 80 grains of Swiss FFG followed by a 54 cal wool wad. Only had 6 bullets to play with. I fired one at a clay bird laying on the berm as a fouling shot. 3 at 50 yards and the last 2 at 75 yds. The results seem to be typical for that bullet and of course the White rifles.
