There are two basic models, finishes aside. One that uses 209 Primers and the "Northwest Magnum" that takes Musket Caps. The link below shows the NW Magnum addendum where you can remove the firing pin and spring for cleaning, The 209 doesn't have that.

Why have two separate models when you could make one with interchangeable firing pins, springs, and Breech Plugs?

By the way, if the NW designation is referring to the Pacific Northwest, sabots are not legal for Muzzleloader Season here in Oregon. Page 28 of the manual states "WARNING! DO NOT USE PATCHED ROUND BALLS, CONICALS, OR MINIE BALLS!" If your gun fails and they find out you used something other than a saboted projectile, your warranty is void.

Happy Shooting!

You can always get a CVA Optima V2 rifle. They offer a northwest legal version. It's a musket cap breech plug, firing pin and bushing. It's easy enough to change over to the 209 plug, along with the firing pin and bushing.
