Another couple thoughts.
Make sure the sight has a level on it.  You would be absolutely amazed how far off of level you will hold a bow when on a sidehill or other uneven terrain.  It will feel like it's level to you, but then you look at the level and realize how off it really is.
Also watch some youtube videos or read up on proper compound bow form before starting so you don't develop bad habits that will hurt your accuracy and be tough to break.
Thanks for the tips. Anyone on youtube you recommend to watch?
Look up John Dudley, And Cameron Hanes. These 2 Guy’s shoot at a Different Level, AMAZING!! And Both are VERY accomplished Hunters. These Guy’s work HARD For it! They both have educational Videos, if you are Super serious about Archery, These 2 would be HARD to beat. I like the Fact that they Live/Love to Hunt, Not Only are they WORLD Class Shooters/Archers, They are the Same in the Field Hunting :Red tup:

I tried a few bows this past weekend, two Hoyt's and Two PSE. I picked one a PSE.  Im gonna go back and try one or two more in next couple of weeks and see if I want to stay with the one I picked.

That's the way to do it, rest assured.  Trying several and picking the one that feels the best TO YOU will serve you well.

I think the very first Cam Haines video I ever watched was him shooting at 180 yards or something like that.  Unreal.
I regularly shoot out to 90 yards (my one pin maxes out at about 93 yards) just for the form practice and to work on extending my effective range.  I would have to do some major changes to my sight, peep height, anchor point, and arrow weight to get out to the ranges those guys shoot.  I saw a video of Levi Morgan a while back where he took an antelope at 80+ yards, hit it right in the boiler room.

Several years ago I had one old 2512 aluminum arrow left from my old hunting arrows, I had long since gone to carbon arrows.  I took it with me to archery camp and told my hunting buddy that I was going to launch it off the point behind camp just to see how far it would go.  Standing on the point I could see a bare dirt bank that was a good 500 yards out.  It was above an old logging road, one that we regularly walked in on to hunt a cut out further.  I told my buddy that I was going to aim at the bank, drew back and held a good 50° angle above the bank and let it go.  We lost sight of the arrow once it got quite a ways out, but it had looked like it might actually reach the dirt bank.  Later that afternoon we decided to hunt that area so we headed out the logging road.  When we got to the bare dirt bank I'd "aimed" at we were quite surprised to see my arrow stuck right in the center of it...doubt I could do that again with 10 more shots lol.

Well, I bought my new bow and decided to go with PSE Drive 3B. Now, all I need to do is practice and maintain fundamentals for hopefully a new and exciting season.

Thanks for all the tips!

When your have your physical fundamentals down where practice sessions are mostly mental, try sticking a mental post-it on the inside of your limb when the groups look good.   "Anchor, Aim & Follow-Through"  works for me with my compound.
Best of luck with your new bow!

Good tip.  The follow through part is what has me at the moment.  It seems much different than the recurve.

PSE makes good stuff, you made a great choice.  Have fun, for a lot of folks it becomes a passion.

When I first started archery hunting, when an animal was in front of me I would hold the pin in the center of its lungs rather than finding a tuft of hair or something to specifically aim at.  I was even doing that on foam animal targets at 3D shoots.  I had a sticker that said "pick a spot!" on the limb for a long time.

I too have also used "pick a spot " !  That sums it up nicely. :ttups:
