Just another example of heavy lead, never had had a failure with - why change what works best.
On a doe hunt at the end of our ML season.
Saw a doe @250-275y on the far side of the field at my 11. Looked with my binoculars and saw this guy in the woods behind her. I grunted and he came running, stopped at 150y, still at my 11, then looked back over his left side at her - I’m thinking he’s going to bolt out of this cut cornfield, BOOM.
Decided to test my casted 40cal 430gr conical into the front of his right shoulder and see what it would do. Broke femur leg bone/front shoulder and blew thru ribs on both side and out. He didn’t run 30yds with a broken front leg…

Remember… Whitworth created the 45 cal 1:20 twist used in Muzzleloaders in the 1850’s.
He utilized a 530gr conical - has an SD of .37
