I can't believe the lack of deer sightings this season,It has been very slow here.
I went to the blind where I shot the 8 point.
I got in early as the solar/lunar table indicated a minor feed in the afternoon.
At about 5:30 I was glassing the cut (161 yards max range) and saw a deer come in at 135 yards according to Bushnell.I could see the head and neck down to where it meets the shoulders.I was hoping the deer would come my way but it turned and walked away to the end of the cut.
Even at 10x on the binocular I couldn't tell if it was a buck or doe.It wasn't a very tall deer but it showed me I need to do some trimming down there,I need to see more than that.
I had the CVA Kodiak 45 cal with me(90 grn BH 209 / 195 grn Dead Center / CCI M / 3x9x50 optics) and with the light fadindg fast(it is dark @ 6:00) I just didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling about a shot so I never even shouldered the rifle.
I shot my 8 point @ 52 yards with the same view of the deer but 135 is a long way from 52 so no regrets.
It was great to just see a deer
