I ordered some Cast Performance 300gr .430 WFNGC for my 629 Classic. I was going to load up some .430 300gr XTPs but thought I'd try something new. I'm thinking about 18-19gr VV N-110. Anyone tried that?

Not sure about that but I sure do like about 18.6gr of H110 with a 300gr XTP. Better hold on to her when you pull the trigger though.

After I started looking I found I had more bullets than I THOUGHT in .429!

From left to right:
Sierra 240gr JHC, Speer 240gr SP, Hornady XTP 240gr, Swift A-Frame 240gr, Hornady XTP 300gr, Swift A-Frame 300gr, and Cast Performance 300gr WFNGC.

The last hog I shot with the .44 Mag with with the 240gr Speer. It really did a GREAT job. Before that was a hog with the Sierra 240gr and a doe with that as well. Did great on both. Kristel killed a nice hog with the 240gr Swift using her Wolverine 209. Other than that I have not shot any THING with the others. I think I'll try those 300gr A-Frames along with the 300gr Cast Performance WFNGCs...

Finally got some rounds loaded! :D

From left to right: 300gr WFNCG Cast Performance/18.5gr N-110, 300gr XTP/18.5g N-110, 300gr A-Frame/18.5gr N-110, and 310gr WNFPGC Oregon Trail True Shot/18.0gr N-110.

I made up 10 of each. Looking for velocities in the 1200fps area. We'll see how they do Sunday!

Very nice looking ammo Chuck. I was always a fan of lighter (180's) in my 44's for hunting, but then again I never shot a hog either. I think any of those rounds will do famously though on a pig. I never did find a cast bullet that was really 100 percent free of barrel leading, but then again I only tried a few, as I really liked the convenience of jacketed bullets. I was not surprised to hear that the 240 gr speer did a great job on the hog as I had shot a couple deer with a 210 speer( or was that a sierra?) from a Desert Eagle and they were really hard and expanded little. I got a little extra testing with one deer and that bullet though as I tried an experiment with the DE when a 150 lb buck came through one morning right on top of me. Some rapid fire combat shooting! I hit him 5 times before he went down and all rounds passed through! So even though I really dont think you need more of a bullet then a stout 240 on pigs, it won't hurt one bit to use any of those loads.

I actually agree 100%!

I've never even SEEN a pig shot with a pistol with a bullet over 240grs. But every one I've seen hit with a 240gr bullet quickly met their maker.. IF I shoot one with one of these I AM gonna pop it thru the shoulder..
