I started watching these videos the other night and finished up this morning. Very easy watching!

He really goes into the details you need to do it.  So FG, when are you going to start one?

not a pistol but most likely my 12ga shotgun i have at the gunsmith. Hes installing a new over sized nipple.

Refresh my memory... why the oversized nipple ?

the original nipple size was partially stripped out from age/wear. He has to drill the bolster larger and tap a new over sized thread in. I hope, its been a month so far.

Not uncommon in muzzleloading shotguns and some of the old contract rifles (usually from being removed, over tightened, or not cleaned for long periods of time). We use to do as your having done or drilling out and retreading to 5/16 x 24 thread, put a stainless steel bolt in the hole then drilling and rethreading for a standard 1/4 X 28 size.

I saw a guy use one these nipples, then cut the hose attachment off and thread to size wanted (looked scary to me).
