244,530 minimum reported whitetails harvested this season as of today. The archery and firearm doe season runs until Jan 1st.

Deer harvest numbers are dropping pretty good. Deer hunters are down a little. Are the herds just getting thin?

Deer numbers IMO are actually much higher. Just hunter numbers are dropping all over, not just MI.
The wife and I would take a ride in the Ranger before the gun season, and within just a 5mi ride, stop counting when we got to 100 deer.
IMO....... right or wrong...... MI needs to stop the 2 buck harvest, maybe go to earn a buck with a doe first. When I drove down to Camp Atterbury and then to Friendship, you actually couldn't count the numbers of whitetails killed on the freeways. In southern MI there was one laying every 1/2mi. IN wasn't that much better.

IMO.. I would agree with ya. Michigan is said to have 2 million deer. Illinois about a quarter of that at 660k. Haven't been to MI in yrs but Illinois estimate seems low.
