It was a beautiful sunny, calm day here today so I did some shooting and testing of different bullets. Distance was 100 yds. 5 shots each for 10 different bullets. Blackhorn 209 at either 100 or 110 gr for each bullet. Different sabots depending on the bullet used but the the same sabot was used for all 5 shots. CCI magnum primers for all shots. I shot a group of 5 of the same load then waited 15 minutes for the barrel to cool. The flash channel on the breech plug was cleaned with a drill bit after each group of 5 shots. All 50 shots were made without ever swabbing the barrel.
(Target was placed upside down) Groups listed in the order I shot them.

Upper left - Nosler Ballistic Tip MZ 300 gr with supplied sabot - 110 gr BH209

Upper right - Berry's muzzleloader bullets 250 gr with supplied sabot - 100 gr BH209

Lower left - Hornady Monoflex 250 gr .458 with MMP orange sabot - 110 gr BH209

Lower right - Barnes TSX 300 gr .458 with MMP orange sabot - 110 gr BH209

Center - Hornady FTX 265 gr .430 with Harvester smooth green sabot - 110 gr BH209

Upper left - Barnes TEZ 250 gr with supplied sabot - 100 gr BH209

Upper right - Barnes TMZ 250 gr with supplied sabot - 100 gr BH209

Lower left - Harvester Scorpion PT Gold 260 gr with Harvester smooth black sabot - 100 gr BH 209

Center - Hornady FTX 325 gr .458 with MMP orange sabot - 110 grain BH209

The results show what I already knew, which is the Hornady FTX bullets are the most accurate bullets I have found to shoot out of my Accura V2. To be fair, some of the others probably have potential if I want to fine tune the load with a different sabot and amount of powder, particularly the Noslers, Berry's and Hornady Monoflex. I was quite surprised to see how badly the Barnes TEZ and TMZ shot, as well as both the Scorpion PT Golds. I know many people use the Barnes with excellent results and I have shot the PT Golds before with much better results so I'm not quite sure why the groups were so open this time. I'll have to do some more shooting with them and try to figure out what's going on. However, firearm whitetail season here in Illinois starts in 2 weeks so at this time I must say I most certainly will be using one of the FTX loads, probably the 265 gr.
