I bought a Barska 3X12X42 rifle scope from Cabelas in Dec. 2007 for $129.00. It looked like a pretty good scope and I thought it work great on my Kodiak mzzleloader. It did for about 150 shots or so. When I checked the warranty, I have to send $25.00 to them for the warranty. Well I did but I called and talked them into trading the scope for a set of binos that are comparable in price. I check the warranties of my Bushnell, Leupold and Nikon scopes or binos and none require any money for repairing or exchanging. Wish I had bought some other brand to start with!

John,

Sorry to hear that, however the only easy answer is as you mentioned to go with someone with Leupold etc right up front.
