I may have one available to me, but I don't buy safe queens. What reliable bullet choices are there for mz velocities? What is your experience on deer size game?

Nope! I have a TC Omega for when I'm desperate or the weather is too nasty for the flintlock.

I see the Optima has changeable barrels, including shotgun, so that could be a plus.

Obviously there are far fewer projectile sabot choices with a .45 vs .50.

Does it have a sealed breechplug so as to shoot BH209?

The 45 is a great gun. The two most common bullets used in the 45 are the Barnes MZ195 & the Hornady SST 200. Both shoot the best in Harvester EZ load smooth blue sabots. You can also shoot sabotless using 45 cal bullets that most 50 cal shooters use in their sabots & that opens up the availability of all kinds of bullets. I shot my Accura with a 260 grain PT Gold, knurled with 2 files, set on top of a dry wad & 90 grains of BH209 (by volume)
