120 gr of each powder by volume will weigh approximately:

BH 209: 84 gr
777: 93 gr

That what Google says. Correct me if I am wrong.

That said, it has come out that 120 gr of BH 209 weighs a little different with each new lot. Start with volume with each new lot and weight it

I assume you’re asking what weight charge of 777 would produce the same speed as 83 grW of BH209.

There are two grades of 777 - you’d have to specify 2F or 3F. And we would need to know what weight bullet and in what caliber rifle, what barrel length, etc.

And as TX says, BH209 varies in weight slightly by lot. So that would make a difference.

And…powder manufacturer data is published in volume charges - not by weight - and most of us use and think in terms of volume charges.

So, this is a tough question to answer.

I just pulled out a scale and volume measurer. The way I measure, this is what I get.

105 grV of BH209 (lot 39) = 83 grW 105 grV of 777 2F = 86.4 grW
(3F = 90grW)

105 grV BH209 will average ~ 1910 fps
105 grV 777 2F will average ~ 1920 fps

(These are my rough averages with a 300 gr TC Shockwave/HPH12 in an Omega with a 24” barrel at 32 degrees.)

Volume to volume they are about the same velocity in this range. So a velocity equivalent charge would be in the neighborhood of 86.4 grW (105 grV) of 2F 777.

Chrono three shots with 86 grW 2F 777 and let us know if this works for you.

Edit: Update velocity numbers and result with chrony data.
