This is just stuff I've owned. Most of the guns I've shot but not owned happend a couple weekends ago. I don't like to borrow guns. Probably my favorite gun that I shot was Nug's Steyr Scout (not bad for a non TH) followed by JJ's Raging bull. Nug's 357 was pretty nice too. JJ's Thumbhole Savage was nice but the barrel was horrid. Those tooling marks were awful! Chuck's Nula was ok but the stock was awful (no TH  ), same with Pat's NEF/SMI.

My comments about the stocks was because I'm so used to shooting thumbhole stocks that anything else feels wrong.

Wow!! This goes all the way back over a 45 year period for me. I have a Firearms Diary Book at home which I know passed over 100 plus pages (only one gun per page  ). I keep a lil story on each gun, purchase info, field notes, if sold/traded info on such etc.

Currently in work travel status & maybe i can scan & put up when back home but likely would clog-up Board!

I do remember my very first though which my Dad bot me back in 1960 ...a Sears JC Higgins Model 20 12 Pump w/polychoke. Still got it!

Have 2 favorites left to me which are credited to my Dad's excellent choices: Dad's Belgium A-5 Browning 12M which was left to me also with a custom Belgium Made Buck Special Barrel for slugs/buckshot & his ole S&W 38/44 Heavy Duty (Model 20). Still got both. :)

As far as giving Loggy any credit for wise investments: My White Super 91 Ltd. Collectors Edition .504 Caliber & my Belgium Browning Hi-Power 9mm. Both classics in thier own right & certainly earn favorite status.

The older one gets..the more challenging Threads like this are.

Great Thread nugbuk!! :yeah:

Of every rifle I've ever owned...my Mark V .300 Weatherby stainless/synthetic is really my favorite. It seems to just shoot better the older it gets. It shoots great from the bench and shoots good off hand as well. It has the same Swarovski PH 3-12X50 it's always had. I don't think I've touched the adjustment in years. It's a little heavy but when it barks stuff dies! While seemingly antiquated by some the first load I developed for the rifle, a 200gr Sierra Game King/74gr IMR-4350, has never let me down. This was one of the first rifles I ever owned that would consistantly shoot less than 1 inch groups..

Can't and wouldn't try to list em' all...but my favorite to shoot is my grandfathers Win mod. 42 410 lots of fond squirrel memories from my yute. :) I even have his old squirrel call and hunting coat displayed in my glassed in trophy case.

All depends what you are going to be hunting and were.My best rifle has been my marlin 336 A 24'' barrel.Good for deer . bear out at least 200 yards. Is that what you wanted to now.donnyb60.

For rifles, my baby is a custom Remington 700 with a Pac-Nor 28" fluted stainless super match barrel chambered for 300 Wby Mag with a custom throat for my reloads. I trued the action and since it was a 1963 year gun, the trigger is super sweet at 2#. This barreled action rests in a McMillan BDL stock that is pillar bedded. For optics, it has a Zeiss Conquest 6-20x50.

Thats one hell of a gun AJ.

I really enjoyed carrying/shootin a winchester lever action 30-30 as a kid. Great brush gun and plenty of power to drop deer or elk, but shooting it as a 10 year old boy was a little too much :)

Now

2- Marlin .17hm for coyotes
Ruger Charger 10-22 pistol .plinking targets and rabbits, Funnest to shoot !!
Encore .50 cal muzzy , Elk and deer
Banelli Nove camo, for ducks and geese .

That's it
. I don't keep guns unless i shoot them , not a collector and i have trouble finding enough time to hunt and shoot what i have . I also spend a lot of time running around with my camera and i am saving for a new one . You think guns are pricey . check out good camera lenses . OUCH !!

Had

Ruger #1 , 257 Roberts Improved , 25-06 and 45-70
Marlin 30-30 , killed my first deer .
Browning 22 t-bolt , 1973-75 ?? i see they make them again
Browning BPS shotgun camo
Marlin bolt action goose gun, very very LONGGG barrel .
Ruger Black hawk 357 mag
Ruger 44 mag Red Hawk
.17 pellit gun
my first , Daisey BB gun still have this one !!!

:D

i'll just list my non-ML favorites ... anything else would take too long. actually, this might take too long as-is:

handgun:

S&W 686, .357 - Midnight black, 4". this one is really unfair ... only a limited run was made in 1988. i picked it up NIB from a dealer who thought it was just a matte-finished 586. i have probably ruined the value by putting several hundred rounds through it, but it is a FINE revolver. i havent handled the new smith's, but i love the old ones ... really no custom work necessary, they are smooth right out of the box.

S&W model 18, .22 LR, 4". one of the better plinking guns ever devised. the only .22 i have shot that's better is a colt diamondback.

Glock 22, .40 caliber. the glocks are kind of boxy, but reliable and simple. i havent found an autoloader i like better.

I have owned and/or shot a number of rugers. I like rugers but every one I have shot had needed some custom work to get it as slick as a smith. the revolvers also ALL seem to have the problem of having the barrel screwed in too far so the front sight is tilted slightly.

rifle:

ruger m77 mkII, .270 - this was my first CF rifle. i like this one because it has been customized to the nth degree. replacement b/c stock, nikon 3-9x monarch scope, free-floated barrel, and a REALLY good gunsmithing job on the trigger (got it down to 2 3/4 lbs and took out all of the overtravel and creep). the stock rifle wasnt much, but with the gunsmithing it is excellent. shoots teeny groups and has accounted for almost all of the whitetail deer i have taken.

savage .22 hornet - excellent out of the box. trigger pull is perfect at <3 lbs. ammo is kind of a pain to reload, though, due to thin neck brass.

savage .17 hmr - cheap, very decent rifle. trigger, despite being an accutrigger, somehow isn't as good as the .22 hornet trigger. ammo is easier to come by, though. fun gun to shoot

remington 700 sendero, .270 - needed trigger work. also, havent ever taken it hunting because its too dang heavy ... the ruger .270 always gets the nod. however ... at the range this gun will shoot 3 shots into one hole at 100 yds.

shotgun:

benelli m2 20 gauge - perfect 20 gauge shotgun. i would take this over any other 20 gauge i have shot, including remington 1100, 870, browning auto-5, and winchester 1300.

Favorite gun I've ever shot is my buddy's Weatherby, 338-378. Shoots thumb sized holes in a half inch steel plate at 400 yards. Amazing rifle.

Since I have been shooting for 58 years and collecting, buying , selling, trading, for over 40 I can't begin to list all of the guns I have shot. I was a trap and skeet shooter, a match shooter with muzzleloaders, pistols and both small bore and high power rifles. At one time I owned 19 Smith and Wesson revolvers in 38 and or 357 and that didn't count others in different calibers. I used to have a regular route I traveled at least twice a week visiting gun shops and trading guns. I have owned several hundred, I have shot hundreds more. My favorite, the one I am holding in my hand when you ask me.
