I ordered a nipple wrench for my new 1858. I want to pull the nipples and clean everything well, then make sure I have anti-sieze on them before I shoot it.
I ordered a wrench that is made for revolvers and got it tonight. I think the thing is made of pewter! It is tearing and bending, but won't even budge the nipples. Mind you, this is a brand new, out of the box revolver that has not been fired yet.
Can any of you more experienced folks recommend anything? Maybe a high quality wrench?
I'm excited to shoot it as it's my first black powder pistol. But not gonna do it til I can make sure I can clean and service it properly.
