Just bought one. Had 2 back in '05/'06. SUPERB rifles. The Swiss. Can't stand the chocolate, but they can sure build a rifle!
She's in good shape. Lots of faded blueing and stock dings commensurate with her age and service. Her bore is a rolled mirror. All numbers match.
Bought this one just for so. And maybe a vintage military match, although I doubt her exquisite trigger ( and it really is exquisite) would be allowed. Hunting is also a possibility. Took a doe with one of the previous K31s back in '06.
Although I much prefer aperture sights, the design and placement of the K31's rear sight allows a VERY good sight picture. Even my eyes handle it well.
Here's a couple pics.

Nice looking rifle, have a couple stashed away from years past.

I like Swiss chocolate.
It has a touch of bitterness that the creamy French chocolate doesn't have.

Never had a Schmidt Rubin K31. I've had the long rifles and the K11 carbine.
I kept the 1911 because I shot it the best. And I like longer guns.

I know the K31 had a vendor offering a replacement front sight so they didn't shoot so high.

Actually, the K31 is not a Schmidt Ruben. Different design. Last of the SRs were the 1911s.
The sights are a bit peculiar. The fellow's at "9 hole reviews" cover this nicely.
The K31 with GP11 ammo hits point of aim at 100 and 200 yards and high from 300 on out. The reason was to allow a 6:00 hold and an unobscured target. Not a terrible idea...
Mine also has the soldier's tag. He lived in Zurich and was in Munitions company II/55 ( 2/55). Neat to know!

Weeellll...
Met someone who liked the K31 more than me.
So. My 760 .35 Remington is my sole centerfire breechloader once again.
I think that's best.
My Leupold M8 4x should be here Monday or Tuesday and the low gloss rings shortly thereafter.
Excepting sling mounts, she'll be done and ready to go for a walk.
