Years ago a bought three barrels, and two stocks at yard sale. The one I was told was a wilderness rifle, in great shape, only markings on it is 50 cal. I would love to find more information on the rifle company. Thank you. Been shooting black powder since the late 60s. Built my first rifle from Dixie gun works

Here are picture my rifle, suppose to be a wilderness, any help would be appreciated. Not for sale

Hmm…looks kind of like a CVA Mountain Rifle, but with maybe a Green Mountain .50 cal barrel? The silver/pewter nose cap makes me think “Mountain Rifle,” but it looks like it has a percussion “snail” instead of a CVA-style bolster. I’m stumped without seeing any other markings, etc. nice looking rifle, though! :)

most excellent eXAMPLE OF A cVA MOUNTAIN RIFLE. the double wedges are the tell.
excellent guns and mine dates from 1970's
hang on to it , getting hard to find. locks are actually nice but the main springs are prone to breaking. a 20 dollar spring vise is a wise investment .

Thanks to everyone on here. I built my first rifle in 68, a kit from Dixie gun works. Have been shooting black powder ever since, make my own caps a prime them. Would have loved to have been alive back in the 1800 times.

though we live in the 21st century we can still live in the 1800's for periods of time. all it takes is to do it. time constraints may slow down the physical activities but the mind has no constraints. WAGH!

I know, in Colorado we went to lots of black powder shots, got the wife into it also, but since moving to Montana, haven’t been able to do any, one of us is always working. And I like to do things with the wife
