I have been talking on and off with Phil Gunn who owns Gunn Enterprises
and makes the "Spinjag" about a custom fit Spinjag.

Well Phil finally assembled me a custom Spinjag and ramrod which fits neatly into the NULA thimble and is held securely by the rifle.
He made a custom ramrod of 3/8" diameter black anodized aluminum, topped it with a Spinjag cleaner/loader that had the plastic base washer turned down to allow it to fit into the thimble.

Other than the turned down plastic base washer it is the standard Spinjag length and with the custom length ramrod the whole assembly is about 1/4" short of the muzzel and looks very clean.
The factory "Noodle" rod is 22 3/4" long including jag, so the new Spinjag and rod combo is 22 1/2" long.

Phil did an excellant job and this custom set-up cost me $57.00 Well worth it to have exactly what I wanted. Too bad that Melvin doesn't use these especially since the NULA costs so much.

Melvin doesn't like aluminum rods, doubt he would be interested. But I agree with you, good idea.

Yeah that's what he SAYS but I think he is just cheap. I agree with CORVAIR that he should include a functional ramrod with a custom muzzleloader. I always used a PowerRod with mine. I couldn't tell you where the original ramrod is...

I know the BASIC area were my original resides. I'd be interested in one of those custom jobbers.

Lawdwaz contact Phil Gunn at ph. 888-271-2323 and I am sure he will build one for you.

Well, after doing some shooting this past weekend with the NULA I decided I needed some Viagra for my ram rod. I called Phil Gunn and he said he would make me up one of his custom rods and get it into the mail in a couple days. Nice guy to talk with. I'm looking forward to the improved version of a ram rod. NOODLE NO MORE!

I'm not exactly sure, I was quoted a price a few dollars less than the one CORVAIR bought. Mr. Gunn said mine would not need as much machine work (?) as the other. Something about my thimble being 2" past the muzzle of the barrel and he didn't need to alter the SpinJag.

I'll know more after I receive it and I'll let you know.

:D New ram rod came today. Perfect, worth the money.

Ram rod and SpinJag.......$46.95 shipped.

Thanks Mr. Gunn

Phil made one for me but the nut of the spinjag would not fit into the thimble. He is sending me one out free of charge on Monday and told me to keep the first one he sent me. That's great customer service.

I have spinjags but they don't fit in my savage. I would love it if I could just get a SpinJag to fit with my powerrod.

Johnny

I use the spin jag on a remington 700ml 20"ramrod for the youth model in my savage and use a golf ball with a 1/2"hole drilled into it to set on top of the rod to seat the bullet. I carry the golf ball even when hunting, and have it laying on the bench when shooting.

Per a request from last October:

Here is a shot of the SpinJag. The rod is very solid and appears well made.

The search for a decent loading jag and rod is over............
