Blue Elk

Well, I didn't get that muzzy elk tag.

Darn - but just think how ready you will be next season when you do get one.... "Be Prepared"

and really good luck - both in getting the permit and the harvest...

I know that feeling from last year. I didn't get a muzzleloader tag but I went anyway without a gun with my hunting partner who did get his tag. We didn't get an elk on that trip but we sure did have a great time. For CO. second rifle we desided to buy OTC Bull tags and I managed to get a 5x5. :D Can you put in for a OTC or buy a left over?

What gun is she going to shoot?

Hope you take pictures if she is succesful...or not!!

She is going to use the pro hunter with a 30-06 barrel on it. And I like to take lots of pictures. We will have fun. My daughter called in a two big bulls last year for me and I rushed the shoot and missed. I was archery hunting in the rut. My daughter got it on video. Not that good quality But you can hear my shoot hit a tree. I have it posted on youtube. Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXY0XRVMWNw

I hate that for you! I am in to draw for NM elk! I won't know until June! :(

I am still going to try for a Desert ML mule deer tag. That would be a great tag, it's during the rut. I'm keeping the fingers crossed.

GOOD LUCK! 8)

If I was going for elk in a state that allowed Sabots, my first choice would be a Harvester Hard Cast 330 gr. http://www.grafs.com/product/230208 $8.99 for 20w/ Sabots, 80 to 100 gr. of BH209. :D :D :D :D    100 grv of BH in my 22" knight gives a muzzle velocity of 1778 with the 330s.

If you wanted to use a heavier Boolit then the 400 gr Harvester Hard cast fits the bill. http://www.grafs.com/product/230209 $9.59 for 20w/ sabots.:):D

These are Large metplat solid Hard Cast bullets that IMHO are deadly on all game, big or small. You don't need to drive them at light speed for them to perform as designed, a impact velocity of 1500 FPS is deemed Ideal.
