Ok, I left the range and I come home. I break the Prohunter down and clean it up pretty well. I try to not put too much grease on the threads and back in goes the breechplug. What do most of you do after that? Fire a cap after cleaning? Fire 2? Nothing? If you do pop off one or two primers...does this become a corrosive situation by letting it sit uncleaned> seee told you. .....newbie Dave

Fire a cap after cleaning?

I would leave it as is, in lubed up storage condition until you are ready to LOAD. THEN, fire a primer to insure the flame channel is clear.

Primer residue itself is non-corrosive BUT by firing a primer you would be removing rust preventative so the breech area would be somewhat less protected from corrosion.
