My wife and I have moved to a new home and there was no existing garden. Having gardened for the last 30 years and having just retired I knew I should at least do a little gardening this summer. We have sandy soil so I decided to start with three 8x4 raised bed gardens. The two tier one is store bought. Other two are off of a YouTube video plan I think. Happy with how they came out. Two filled with mic of topsoil and compost. One filled with a beautiful organic raised bed mix from local organic farm . Great looking soil. Put in started lettece and broccoli so far. Still have to design temporary fence. Next year will add three more maybe.

Nice beds. I wish I could find some good organic soil for my beds. Mostly been experimenting around with bagged produt form Lowes and Home Depot. Not very happy with the results.

Great job on the gardens! My wife wants a couple of raised gardens in the worst way. Did you lay the cardboard right on top of the grass and then fill the beds?
If you you keep building those gardens across your yard you’ll have to slide that “little” rock out of the way. 😂

Yes Joe. Put the cardboard down to kill grass then placed beds and filled. Yeah I think only one more bed on that side! 😁. We love the rock.!

.
Just finishing our landscape now, have a few more drippers to install, then it will be raised beds also. Using the block that looks like stone (2 beds 36" X 8'), two blocks high with top caps to sit one when working the beds. Have a friend that makes his raised gardens beds out of red wood (expensive) only last 6-8 years before being rebuilt.
.

I need to get more lumber and rebuild mine; the present walls are 12 years old and rotted out. I was going to replace them last year but then decided that they could last another summer, which they did, I will build the new ones further apart so I can run the lawn mower between them - using the Weedeater is a pain!

Mine are 3' x 12', with 2x10 sides. Lots of compost in there over the years. I keep a plastic bucket with lid in the kitchen for scraps. During the summer they go into the compost maker, during the winter I just dig a hole in one of the beds and dump them in, then cover them up with soil and by summer it is all good dirt.

My wife decided I needed to build a raised garden. I did some research and decided to start with one, 4'x8'x12", treated 2x12's. I put some black plastic paint drop cloth then installed the lumber. Used top soil, for 10" then 10 bags of potting/garden soil and tilled about 6" of both till I had a firm soil the plants would stand up in and hold a little moisture. I saw a few sights where they used a strip of Marigolds down the center to keep out bugs. Don't know if that works but it looks good. I planted in a seed germinator 72 pods in the house of veggies and some flowers. They are about 2-3 inches tall now and ready to plant. My wife brought home some Cherry & Roma tomatoes, dill, beets, and cilantro I have planted now. The seedlings will go in tomorrow after the rain stops.
I have put in a garden in over 15 years. Hope I get something from this besides food for the rabbits.
Mike

Bobbythe Hunter- great looking set up. Is the fence around it to keep out deer or what. I might have to put some hardware cloth around mine if the rabbits figure out how to jump or climb into my raised garden.
