Just to let all know this was done by our prime-minister after the recent mass shooting here in Nova Scotia, using a OIC (order in Court) to change the regs by just one stroke of his pen. The OIC is normally only used in a state of emergency (eg. act of war), but this allowed him to bypass the normal democratic process of having reviews and readings done with all parties in Parliament and having them adopted into law by vote. With prohibs, we cannot use them and must keep them locked up till they finalize the payback program (based on the public tax dollars) or options for dewatting or having them destroyed within the the two year amnesty period that has been allotted. Presently the way the regs were written, there is an issue with all 10 and 11 gauge shotguns as they didn't consider the forcing cone/chamber or a removed choke tube diameters into the equation therefore making these guns prohibs as well. Included on the list is all high power hunting rifles such as the 460 weatherby, all military style semiautomatics, grenade launchers, and anything with 50BMG, 460 Steyr, 416 Barrett etc is on the list.

I must say you are correct on gauging the bore! I was thinking of what ball size to use and misspoke about the gauge. .787 diameter would be close to 9 gauge at .903. Here is a screenshot from Wikipedia of firearms gauges:

Billy-by-gosh, I had to run the numbers myself. Using the formula
20mm/25.4mm per inch I get 0.787 inches bore diameter, so I agree there.

But using the formula
gauge=4.66/barrel dia in inches cubed I get a bore gauge of 9.54.

Not that it really matters but engineers get obsessive about math.

I am not sure if you heard, our prime minister in Canada, Trudeau, has revised the firearms regulations with an order in court, to create a ban on over 1500 firearms for any further use in Canada. For example, any firearm with bores over 20mm in diameter and 10 KJ energy are banned for further use. I am total upset over this as some of my large bore and hunting rifles are going to have to be handed over to the police for confiscation or scrapped.!!!! So much for living in Canada!!!
i read your constitution and after wading through all the crap i noticed that the 20 mm have been banned for a while. But you guys are going to get hit hard on the new weapons added to the list.......the 338 lapua is going to be banned

This COVID-19 isn't about a virus.....it's political...it's about destroying the economy and control of the population!! The blue state governors are letting serious criminals out of prison while arresting mothers in a park with their child!
The Dems and news media are likening this to the Spanish Flu of 1918!!! In 1918 the world population was approximately 1.8 billion. Estimates are 50 to 100 million deaths world wide due to the flu. On the high side that would be about 5%, on the low side about 2.5%!! This is not a pandemic any more than the flu is! If it were you would see 10's of thousands of bodies from the vagrant camps all over this Country!! Not only that, by now you would see millions of deaths due to this virus!! If we compare to the 1918 flu here would be some approximate stats: on the low side @ 2.5%=approx. 200 million deaths, on the high side @ 5%=approx. 400 million deaths worldwide! As of today approximately 300,000 deaths world wide have been contributed to COVID-19 and that is starting to decline!! In the Blue states they have found health departments requiring doctors and hospitals to report unknown cause of deaths to be reported as COVID-19 in order to verify their falsified inflated numbers.
In other words folks....if the left which is highly communist leaning, gets into the WH or takes the House and Senate, we are all in deep shit!!! FREEDOM IS HANGING IN THE BALANCE!!
Trudeau's Socialism is in reality turning to Communism. The Canadians will have to do what the Aussies did: buy large plastic pipes to fit rifles and pistols in: wrap them in Mylar bags: and bury them for future use!

At the time, from what I know, the 338 lapua is still okay because of the energy it delivers is still under the 10 KJ's. But you never know what will come up next because the regs were written with so much openness. Right now the RCMP are revising their FRT (Firearm Registration Tables) with the new Prohibs daily. Our only hope is that the new opposition leader candidates for the CPC (Conservative Progressive Party) that will be nominating their new leader in August, have made promises to reverse some of this and become the majority gov't in the next election. We can only hope this will happen soon.

When government starts to fear the people, the people should start to fear the government.

We always seem to elect the most power-mad, clueless and wealthy people to public office. But often that's the only choice open to us. We need more truly honest, empathetic and ethical candidates to run for office. We are now without national leadership and mostly without state or local leadership. We've had 100 years to plan and prepare for a situation like the one we're in, but no one has listened to those giving warnings. You'd think that those who gave us Viet Nam, Iraq or Afghanistan could also give us a plan to deal with disease. Politicians spend slightly over half their time campaigning for reelection rather than doing their job. A politician, any politician have their priorities and loyalty assigned in this order of importance: 1. Their own career and welfare. 2. Loyalty to party. 3. Loyalty to their major money donors. 4. Loyalty to their voters. 5. Loyalty to the repugnant, so-called Patriot Act. 6. Loyalty to the Constitution and force of law. Numers #4 and #5 could and probably should be switched.

I recall a scene from a TV series of a few years ago, "Under The Dome". The corrupt mayor had already murdered several people, etc, and was confronted by the protagonist. The mayor, paraphrased, "You think I'm scum because you know I'm a murderer"! Protagonist, "No, you're worst than that; you're a politician"!

Sadly, you are partially right. There was a time when I thought there's nothing to vote for, and then I realized I was giving up something that was fought for and won, the ability to have something to say in government affairs. No doubt it has come around to not voting for the best person but boarding against an ideology or beliefs. Obama was right, I'm clinging to my guns and religion as I believe in the second amendment, and I think abortion is infanticide. We don't fix the problem and recall those that are not doing what they were voted to do. We seem to spend more time just complaining about it.

I've voted both parties, and for one independent. This is because I vote for the person and not the party. I also never base my vote on just one issue nor do I agree with every issue.

hopefully any of the Canadians on this forum have already signed the petition. whether this particular ban affects you directly or not you have to think of it in the way that these guns are the buffer to your guns. now that they are gone they will start working on the ones that maybe in your possession. you should also think about joining some of the orgs such as the CCFR, CSSA or NFA as these groups are all partaking in court action against the gov't on this ban. $40 to join these orgs is less than the cost of a day at the range.
They banned my AR15 (M16A2 clone that i assembled from parts), so far none of my antiques or shotguns fall into the other bans specs.
