Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving. Opening day for muzzleloader here in N.J. is this monday. I have the 250 Gr. shockwaves dialed in but I would like to switch over to the 250 Gr. XTP's. I Have not been able to get to the range but tommorrow is a go. They are saying the wind will be 15 to 20 MPH. I will be only sighting in at 50 yards with 95 grains of BH209. I know its not perfect conditions but would you be comfortable zeroing in a rifle at the said distance and wind speed ?

Tats alot of wind, how far will your shots be? If its only 50 yards and your original zero will keep them on a pie plate and you wont exceed 50 yards, then yes.

My shots will never be more than 50 yards where Im hunting. " Swamp Area"

That short of a distance should not effect your bullet too much. It would be nice if you could take a shot or two with the new load though. It should be close.

Wind effect 20 miles per hour
Shock Wave 250gr 50 YD @ 2000 drift 1.4 inches @100YD drift 5.5 inches
XTP same except BC @ 50 YD 2.8 inches @ 100YD 12 inches
The BC of a bullet makes more differance in wind drift than it does in drop at 150 YD or less. Lee
