Hello. First post. Been looking all over this site. Like what I see. Thanks for having me!

Now for the question.

I just picked up an unfinished Allen Inline custom chunk gun. .45 caliber 1-66ish twist rate. Round ball anyway. Barrel length is 42"

What sight would you all recommend? Being as it is round ball chunking gun, I'm not sure what I want to go with.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I had a target type sight for that kind of base. I haven't noticed it around for some time, but I'll look through a bunch of my stuff and see if I can find it. A guy just seems to accumulate a lot of stuff over the years.

Do you know what brand of sight it was? I don’t remember any Lyman sights with that big a base of the ones I’m familiar with.

I don't remember anymore what brand it was. I looked around for about an hour in my shop, and haven't found it yet. I had the sight and base with it. I'll keep looking for it......
It had a sort of thumbscrew on the side to tighten it up on the base, as opposed to the normal dovetail of such sights.
You might want to check out the Lyman 93 model front sight or Williams also makes one that attaches to a base like you have. If neither one is correct, you might just want to add a dovetail and then you have lots of choices.

Thanks! I’ll check those out!

Depending on barrel dimensions, Williams has a nifty little aperture sight. I have a couple of them glued on with automotive silicone. They hold zero very well. If you decide you dont like it, peel it off with a sharp blade.
