Several times on this board i may have made the claim that "all black powder substitutes except for Black Horn 209 contain potassium perchlorate. " The NIST laboratory has confirmed that BH 209 also contains potassium perchlorate.

Falcon I wonder what the percentage is . Since this is what is in a corrosive primer and since the only way to deactivate this substance is water . Black horn as we know says clean with normal solvents which do not deactivate the salts . I have experienced an orangish tinge in my barrels if I don’t clean during the October hunt which I don’t get in Jan with similar barrel conditions probably due to lesser humidity .
 
Eh Moose Milk users (Hot Water/Ballistol) never gave potassium perchlorate any thoughts. Hot water ballistol has been doing a fine job
