i just recently bought a T/C northwest explorer and put a musket cap nipple on it and test fired just the cap's by them self's and had to cock the hammer and fire to dent the cap then on the second firing it worked perfectly . Is this normal for musket cap's

Nope - check that the cap was firmly seated, and the hammer is aligned to strike it square. Also check that the striking face of the hammer is flat.

No that is not normal. Like said, check those things. I shoot a T/C Black Mountain Magnum that has musket caps and it goes off every time I pull that trigger.

If you can not get that to fire first time.. call T/C and see what they suggest. A new rifle like that should work without question.

I had that trouble when i pulled down on a buck. found out the main spring was to weak!!
