HINT, the reason for a wad between black powder and the bullet in black powder loaded cases is this.

this is for back powder subs and trail boss and powders like that also. a good tight fitting wad prevent gas cutting and leading with lead bullets. the lube alone will not prevent leading. when the gas cant slip by the bullet their is little chance of leading. it wont be pushed fast enough to strip out also. just a hint if anyone was wondering about or why i use a well cut tight wad behind the bullet. have fun and enjoy your guns.
 
We have used grease cookies in about everything you can think of in cartridge guns. Between using grease cookies and oatmeal filler you can come up with some very good and interesting results. Just how much testing and time are you willing to spend to get the best load for that gun, caliber and bullet weight your wanting to use. Black powder with modern powder percentages are another story.
