Hello, quick question. I have several different pistols and a rifle. I have
a CVA 1861 Navy in 44 and a jukar 45 pistol. These 2 take a #11 cap. Can I swap the nipples for #10 to make it simple. My ROA, Pietta 1851 and my cva Carolina 45 rifle all take #10 caps.
Another reason for switching is I have more #10s then #11s*.

Hmm…I am not that familiar with the spec differences between #10 and #11 nipples or caps. Are the 11s fitting too tightly or are they too long on those pistols? I can possibly see the issue with the revolver, but I can’t see how a cap would interfere with frame on a single shot colonial pistol. Can you share pictures of your dilemma? Thx!

The first 4 pictures are of the nipple, how high the cap sets just by fingers. Where it contacts Fram and then pressed on with wooden dowel, causing deformation. Last pic is one other nipple with cap placed with fingers and the hight. Which works well. So my nipples need replaced or.

Usually there would be no pop. On bad cones/nipples or they would be mushroomed, easily spotted if not firing or not consistent ignition. then I would change. If I am going to change I`d go slix shot, yes a little more expensive but well worth it. Now I have got new revolvers and just changed the nipples to slix I just like them better. Of course I have only used 100 #10 caps(Remington) Switched to CCI #11s then started making my own #11`s.

I was actually able to thread the nipples part way I to a rod I had laying around just enough to hold without damaging the threads. I then took emery cloth and was able to polish the caps until.the #11 went on with fingers enought to clear the frame.

Ended up scraping the counter lever idea and went straight pull. Works like a wet dream.
