My SMI barrel for my H&R should be here any day. I'm getting ready to order a bunch of stuff to try, and one thing I hoped I could make work was shooting 200 grain .40 bullets in the SMI's .50 barrel.

Looking at the Favorite SMI load sticky, it seems many have been able to make this work.

Is the MMP blue .50/.40 hp sabot the best bet (harvester told me their .50/.40 blue sabot isn't up to smokeless pressures)? Is a wad under the sabot necessary? What kind of speed are you able to shoot 200 grain .40s at accurately? To what distance? What powder are you using and how much?

Any input on this will be greatly appreciated :)
