hey sorry for the Newbieish type question.

When you guys are talking about shooting Speer Gold Dots, are you just get .45 cal unloaded bullets (like for reloading) and seating them in a sabot and then down the barrel, or does Speer make a ML specific bullet?

If it is just the plane ol' round that you would buy for reloading then any appropriate caliber round could be used? correct?

Thanks
J-

Yes, we're talking about the bullets you buy for reloading - usually pistol bullets but sometimes rifle bullets.

The key thing is that you must match the bullet to the correct sabot for the caliber of your barrel. For example, if you're shooting a .50 caliber muzzle loader you use 50 caliber sabots made for the bullet diameter you want to shoot. You can use the .451 or .452 pistol bullets (Gold Dots, XTPs, Sierras, etc) in sabots that are made for .451/.452 bullets. Or, you can shoot the .458 bullets usually used in reloading 45-70s by using the 50 caliber MMP orange sabots made for .458 diameter bullet. Or you can shoot the .429 diameter pistol bullets used for reloading .44 magnum rounds by using the .50 caliber sabots made for "44 caliber" bullets. Or you can shoot 10mm/.40 caliber bullets in 50 caliber sabots made for .400 bullets. Yep - an endless variety. :D

explanantion

Can we get Semisanes sabot explanantion up in the post it's. That was real helpful. I am having a hell of a time finding bullets and was afraid to get a bullet and then making sure I had the right sabot to fit it. Still new 3 years later to this sport.
