I sat down, broke the rifle open and went to put the primer in.

I knew i had forgotten to put something in last night

even the Sabertooth slightly engraves the rifling,

#3 is my fault as i did not have the butt of the rifle settled into the rest,

80gr Pyrodex RS @ 70 yards with the 250gr Sabertooth

Having the thumbhole stock allows me to do this and get a nice comfortable aim on the target.

And then i loaded up 100gr pyrodex rs with the 444gr FP Powerbelts. I held on to it a lot tigher after the first shot rocked my world.

Question:

Why the heck are the massive 444's shooting so much higher? Ive noticed that everything from the 245gr Powerbelt all the way up to the 338gr platinum (and 348gr) all shoot the same POA.

 Gander, that third picture is the worst case of blow back I've ever seen.

Those heavy bullets have (1) more recoil and (2) a longer dwell time in the barrel. That combination allows the bore to rise a little more before the bullet exits. Hence, they shoot higher.

If the recoil starts to lift the barrel before the bullet exits it will cause the gun to shoot high with a light load. Might try a bit more powder, it is possable that the right load would bring it to the same POI. Lee

i may not be able to use it for hunting but my accuracy reports should be better now.

I just finished checking out my old 30-30 and said, well what the hell, lets see if those ugly bulky, see through rings will work on the Accuras bases.

Damn!

sabre tooth, should those be pushed out slow? Or can i push hard w/ the inline a BH209 loads to get the same mushroom?

They need to be pushed much slower than what i shot them at. The 250s suck as far as performance. The 300s -350's are a lot better penetration/mushroom wise.

With these 3 shots i did not clean the barrel spotless, i just used an alcohol patch to get some of the fouling cut back. Next outing i'll use the 777 primers as they shoot better.
