Does need to be done for best accuracy and does it actually make a difference? Do you only sand the ears? What grit sandpaper or do you use a dremmel? I assume trim only so the ears do not touch the barrel? Does this void the warranty in any way?

I believe you just sand the ears just enough to not rub.
I never did it to my Encore so I can't advise you as to what grit.I don't think the dremmel would be needed.

I sanded mine so I could run a dollar bill under them with out it pulling very hard, it was not necessary to sand them much if the pressure on both sides had been equal I would have left them alone but it was not. Lee

Do you just sand the insides of the ears so they are thinner? Does it show when your done?

If you can?t run a piece of paper between the ears and the barrel then you have barrel contact there. That is what you are trying to correct. Just sand a little at those contact points until you can slip that paper there.

Just the inside where the round pad is.

The ears are the part that covers the pivot pin and are over the receiver.
