There is a 54 Caliber CVA Hawken at one of my local pawn shops for sale for $250. The bore is in excellent shape and appears to be only shot a few times. Just wondering what I should offer for it, I don't know what they normally go for. Can not believe how good of shape it is in compared to the other hawken styles they had which were full of rust! LOl

$250 isn't a bad deal at all actually.

Offer $175 and work from there.

One thing you can benefit from is bedding the tang, barrel and trigger plate. It makes a world of difference!

Thanks!  Will do, I Have always loved black powder hunting, taking my dads 54 Cal TC Scout hunting in the morning. I have always been fond of the 54 cal, now if I could find a 58 lol

Oh I can help you with that! I can custom fit a CVA Mountain Rifle .58cal barrel onto that stock, if it has a 1" channel. If not, that .54cal is an excellent big game hunter even with a simple patched round ball.

My CVA Hawken runs a 32" cva mountain rifle barrel in .58cal, what a shooter she is!

Welcome to the forum as well, always great to have new sidelock shooters with us!

Have had some in lines, but almost seems like cheating...Almost LOL , I am wanting to get a couple side locks, of course without the spouse finding out makes it a little harder! Will definitely keep you in mind for that 58!  I just love the way my dads old 54 Scout puts a wallop on a deer !
Also, am glad to have found the forum, thanks for having me!
