Live about 20 miles outside of Trinidad, Co. Wife needed some things from Walmart. Hate the one in Trinidad. Soooooo, mailed a package, got her breakfast at Sonic, and said let's go to Walmart in La Junta, Co. So there we went....75 miles to La junta...beautiful day for a trip....went to La Junta Walmart...La Junta Big R...stopped at gas station got a couple bottles of water. Wife said, "out of Mortadella lunch meat, Italian store is open until 4:30pm"> I said, "it's only 1:30, I'll hit state route 50 east and we'll be there in a little over an hour". And we continued our stay at home trip. Got to Pueblo, co. and picked up here things at the Italian store, then went to Harbor Freight for a few things. Headed back towards Trinidad another 100 miles. Stopped at Dominoes in Trinidad and got some wings for dinner and headed home. Great day and the Guvna can go to hell. I will never live in fear.

Fear and caution are not the same things. Colorado has 9400 cases of Covid19 and 411 deaths. I have 39 cases in my area and 4 deaths.

You're lucky you live in the boonies Stan but you still have 3 cases in your area. Have you come in contact with them? You'll never know. By traveling around you just up your odds for contact. You don't know who has it. Some won't show symptoms for 2 weeks and some never show any but both cases can spread it to others. Death is by suffocation. Not a good way to die. Don't be foolish.

Covid19

This subject is one to not take lightly, lost one old friend a few weeks ago and have another in hospital now. God Bless all that have moved on or are suffering at this time. Sad as I haven't visited with either of them for several years. just keep in touch by mail or phone till now. :(

We are lucky down under, only 6,000 cases in the whole country. Western Australia has locked its borders down, no one in except transport. We have about 545 cases, pretty much all here in Perth and related to bloody cruise ships. We only had one new case in the whole state yesterday and that was in the Goldfields.
Most of us are self quarantine, Wendy and I are fine on our little farm, heaps to do. All ranges and gunshops are shut down and limits on the amount of grog you can buy. I reckon in the next month or two restrictions will start to lift within the state. It will be months before we can travel interstate without quarantine for 14 days at the other end. Who knows when we will open the country borders for international travel.
Hopefully you blokes in the US will acquire this herd immunity as you are paying a dreadful cost to this damn plague. I know blokes on other forums who have lost family and friends to this nasty bug, it is no joke.

Keep well and safe all of you and your families.

Cheers

Gordon

Have another friend of 40 years now in the hospital with this issue, making that two and the third gone - all from Colorado Denver area. Becareful with your travels, keep your distance, do the elbow thing and stay away from crowds.

You've had a "double whammy" down under. First the fires and now the pandemic. Our double whammy is TRUMP first and then the pandemic.

Hear your first remark from many. I know that we and many of our friends have enjoyed Trumps roll with our savings, first growth since the 70's. It doesn't matter what you do, it will never please everyone. The best policy is keep a low prolie.

Remember the old statement: "When you point your finger at someone, look where your thumb is pointing".

Look at the Philippines with the new orders to police and military with this pandecmic. "Shoot those not following orders for face masks or gathering in large groups", now that's some "hard core" stuff. o_O We have heard this just one time and now has been blocked by the news media. Interesting.

Please stay within the Covid19 subject.

You are right about the double whammy, those fires burnt out most of the east coast of Australia. We had no new cases in most states yesterday, looks like it might be about burnt out. There will by a systematic easing of restrictions, each with a period of wait and see. We are getting lots done around the house, and I am most fortunate in that I work in the mining industry and my job is as secure as anyones.
I am hoping that our governments learn from this pandemic, lots of lessons there in having our own manufacturing capabilities over a lot of vital supplies. China might rue the day it let loose the wolf.

Let it go, Stan. If you want to shrug off over 40,000 people dying from the virus like it's a joke. Go ahead but you're not funny.

Pete, don't even pretend to tell me what to do. You want to act like a frightened child do it. Don't tell me how to act. i've been through more **** than you can even dream about. I don't go looking to catch the virus or flu or whatever it is! But I'm not about to hide in a cave either! Death has looked me in the face more times than most...theirs nothing I could do to change it...they were risks that had to be taken. So if you don't like what I say, that's your problem! I say what I feel. This virus like any other is a problem just like any other virus! Here's some more statistics for you!
This is from CDC:

Now, when this virus BS is all over with, remember, we are all suseptible to any of the below causes of death! So, stay home and sit on your couches so that none of the below happens to you and remember to wear your masks! Oh BTW: there are more, I just listed leading causes!! Close to 3, 000,000 deaths in the US every year.

Number of deaths for leading causes of death:
  • Heart disease: 647,457
  • Cancer: 599,108
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
  • Alzheimer’s disease: 121,404
  • Diabetes: 83,564
  • Influenza and Pneumonia: 55,672
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis: 50,633
  • Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173

Ok, tough guy. I won't say I know what you've been through but don't assume it's worse than someone else. I'm hardly scared. I don't get scared.

I also don't joke about something that isn't funny. Go to another forum that your kid doesn't own and see if you get away with it.

I tried to find the quote of Gov. Presbitero Velasco Jr. - President (one of dozens of governors listed in the Philippine Government. A reporter said last year "the reason the Philippines has no gang issues is they are arrested but disappear on their way to jail" ??? o_O

Interesting stuff from around the world, haven't seen anything on the virus with their country !

Back to the subject title.

Pete, Jon doesn't own this blog....leave him out of this crap of yours! I say what I feel, if it offends you, deal with it. You sure have a hang up with that word tough...hit a nerve does it? People die every day.....we don't close down the world for them. Tens of thousands of young people trying to raise families have lost jobs, homes, cars, don't know where their next meal is coming from, simply because those who don't have to work want a complete shutdown...now that is selfishness! With almost 3 million deaths in this Country every year, we stand a much greater chance of something else killing us...no sense in worrying about what you can't control. I'm cautious of any disease, being scared isn't going to solve curing it, or fending it off! Goodnight Pete, sleep tight. And again you leave Jon out of this...he isn't concerned in anything I am responsible for.

Stan....You aren't alone in saying what you want. That's why we butt heads all the time. However, i'm also responsible. If i'm careless and get the virus I spread it to others. The only way this Covid-19 will be brought under control is by everybody being responsible and keep a distance from others. It's not being scared. It's caring for others and doing your part.

What other ways people die from has nothing at all to do with it. I can't believe you keep bringing that up. So, maybe you should be the one to cut the crap.

It's hitting overcrowded cities the hardest. Makes sense sinse these folks are packed so tight.

I'm more concerned about economic collapse than C-9. A friend is getting 200.00 a week unemployment, then another 600.00 a week plus weeks of extension when his orig would run out. HUUUUM $3,200.00 a month income for staying at home? HELL YES he wants the shutdown to continue, why work? Multiply that by tens of thousands of recipients who are making more now than when they were working. I wonder how many people that dislike the present admin sent their $1,200 stimulus back that the Dems drug their feet on 'till they got their way ? Funny how we always hear about SS running out of OUR money and not the g'vt giveaway programs ,buying votes for the dems? Remember Socialism is a nice word for Communism. And now back to browning my UH barrel and checking a few badger traps, oh ya, got a call on a 'coon that's pilfering horse grain, I'll respond to that and stay off of this subject because it is stressing me. ML48 I was in my country's service '66-'67 and it grieves me to see the American people stampeded like the sheep they have become. Out Here, Mossie

Ohhhhhhhh.....Colorado may open at end of week.

It might be better for the forum if we both don't talk about this anymore. I'll go first and say this is my last post on this subject.

I tried to figure the percentage of C-9 deaths to the population of New York but my math won't go that small, maybe about 1 tenth of 1 percent? What happened to violent crime deaths, drugs etc they can't seem to control ? They have a new posterchild to camo all of their shortcomings? Just sayin Amen MM, I'll be the second!
