I will be picking up a near mint Marlin 1895GG blued 45/70 with the ported 18"(?) barrel for just $300 from a friend. Its been in his family for a few years and never shoots it.

At our last "blasting fest" he brought it out and i fell in love with it. I will be adding a scout type scope mount and a peep site to see which i prefer. He doesnt reload and doesn't care to pay the price for factory ammo. So now it has a home that will appreciate it.

I dont have any 45/70 dies but i have a large stock of .458 bullets for my muzzle loaders. Since both have similar ballistics this should be a super sweet combo for me.

I will post some pics after i get it, probably next weekend. We have a "gentleman's" handshake agreement that IF i ever sell it, he can buy it back for what i paid.

IMO i got a smokin good deal on an awesome brush gun.
