is that a bad idea in the interest of cleaning? will it not retighten the pivot action? just curious

I remove mine all the time. I use the T/C pivot pin tool that has the flat-head screwdrivers on it. I just place one end of the pin removal part on the Bellm pin and tap it with the handle of a screwdriver. I always apply a little breechplug grease when I reinstall it.

I use a set of brass pin punches. Using brass and the correct size is less likely to cause mars, in my opinion. Lee
