The Medina rifles (2) were in the Loveland CO museum for years, same place as Zethel Gates who wrote about Mariano Medina: "Colorado Mountain Man". Boulder: Johnson Publishing Co., 1981.

The rifle that Jim Gordon has was stolen and recovered several times before the family sold it. We were at the making of the movie "Dull Knife" near Greeley CO when we saw it as a prop sold to the movie company by a painter that worked at the museum. Each time it was contractors employees that took the gun.

.
Just picked up a copy of the book via Amazon, look forward to reading more about Mariano. Thanks for the lead.

Marino Medina's daughter Lesa is buried on our place, he was seen visiting her grave many times through the years. His step son Louie Pappa came to visit his sister all the time, had worked the area ranches at branding time for years. When Marino still had his store, bridge operation and trading post on the Big Thompson River some local Utes stole several of his horses. He stopped and got neighbors as well as the wife's grandfather to track them down and get the horses back.

The horses were returned and the Utes were never seen again (locals believe they are buried on Storm Mountain) a mile from the family homestead. These guys (neighbors and grandfather Chance were interesting and hard characters (thats a story in itself).
